You need to carry your UK driving licence everywhere you go. Also, you need to have your correct HGV licence. It means that take the right category of driving licence for the HGV. You will need an International driving permit to drive in these countries

You might need an International driving permit from some countries in the EU and Norway if you have a licence issued in the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar or if you have a paper licence.

What if you work with an EU company and have a UK driver’s Certificate of professional competence
Uk driver’s Certificate of professional competence is not recognized by EU countries. You will have to check with the organization where you work and live. They will guide you on this.
Green cards and Insurance for HGV and Trailers
If you want to drive in the following countries, you will need a green card
- Albania
- Azerbaijan
- Belarus
- Iran
- Israel
- Moldova
- Morocco
- Russia
- Tunisia
- Turkey
- Ukraine
You will not need a green card in the following countries
- EU (including Ireland)
- Andorra
- Bosnia
- Herzegovina
- Iceland
- Liechtenstein
- Norway
- Serbia
- Switzerland.
Also, you can need more than one green card in the following situations
- You have multi-car insurance or a fleet (you will need a green card for all the vehicles)
- You are towing a trailer with your vehicle. (you will need one green card for towing your vehicle and one for trailer and vice versa)
- Two policies cover your trip. For instance, your policy gets renewed between the journey.
The electronic versions of green cards are not acceptable anywhere therefore it is better to carry physical proof.
